Welcome to Sapling Grove Press. We are a small, independent publishing company, birthed in the foothills of the southern Appalachian Mountains during the summer of 2014. We published our first book, a poetry chapbook by Susan O'Dell Underwood, in July of 2014, and released our second book, a poetry collection by Dawn Coppock, in January of 2015. Our third book, Rich Community: An Anthology of Appalachian Photographers, is a juried & edited collection of one or two photographs, a short bio, web/contact info, and an artist's statement by 82 Southern Appalachian photographers who were chosen in an open, juried competition. This anthology is now available (released in June, 2015).

We are very excited to announce that on November 1st, 2018 we released our first novel, Deep in the Earth, by respected Appalachian author Mary Bozeman Hodges. The official launch party and public reading by the author will be on Monday evening, December 3, 2018, on the campus of Carson-Newman University. See the page “Our Books” for more information about the novel, and the “Events” page for more information about the reading.

We have a great children's book available: We published a lovely and unique children's book by Julie L. Rabun in late 2015, titled, FEATHERS. This is now available on the "STORE" page of this web site. Please see the "Our Books" section of this web site to preview or purchase any other of our books.

We published a big letterpress broadside in 2016:  We partnered with the fine folks at Striped Light [recording studio and letterpress print shop in Knoxville] to make a limited edition broadside of Susan O'Dell Underwood's long poem, "Holler," which has been made popular by Susan reading this 10-minute rant live on the radio several times recently. This broadside is a letterpress-printed, limited edition, signed and numbered by the poet, 20" x 24" print of the poem, suitable for framing. The broadsides are now available in the "STORE" on this web site.

Thanks for being a friend of Sapling Grove Press.
